What is a PULLiT?

PULLiT is a patent pending neoprene (wetsuit material) wristband that has a hidden compartment that is virtually unnoticeable. PULLiT looks just like a high end sports wristband. In fact you can layer other bracelets with the PULLiT. However, inside of the compartment is a 18" x 18" x 18" Fluorescent Orange Super Lightweight Water Repellent Nylon Ripstop Flag. To use you simply pull the flag out by jerking on the "pull". This releases the large orange flag into the alert position letting others know that you are in need of immediate assistance. It is the only wristband flag or tool that will alert others to a distressed swimmer that can not call out or not be heard. Give yourself that extra layer of protection, especially when swimming in Open Water. Durable and reusable too! Simply push the flag back into the chamber and you are ready for your next water outing! Don't hesitate, protect yourself today! (see instruction video below)

The PULLIT Alert Wristband - Your Signal That You Need Help

HAVE YOU EVER:
*Wondered if someone was "in trouble" as you looked out into the surf?

*Been caught in an undertow?

*Felt you were so fatigued you couldn't swim against the current?

*Become ill while swimming?

*Been water skiing and dropped into the water and watched the boat pull away with the warning flag?

*Been on a jet ski in open water farther out than you could swim in safely?

*Been afraid you were out too far in open water?

*Over-estimated your ability to swim?

*Helped someone else in the water?

*Had to be rescued by a lifeguard or other person nearby?

Prevent Drowning
PULLIT - the newly developed wristband - created by me, a grandmother of nine, after the near drowning of one of my grandsons.

After the incident,  I did a lot of research. I wanted to get something, anything, that would make my grandchildren safer in water. I never wanted to have that happen again or have others go through it. What I found was disturbing.

People are drowning at numbers consistently year after year with no decrease in sight. Lifeguards are even at a disadvantage as they try and gauge a swimmer's distress. Many triathletes, who swim expertly, drown each year because they are unable to be seen in the crowds of swimmers in competitions. Most swimmers over 4 years old drown as others are present and do not recognize the signs.

In short, what I found was, there was nothing on the market to buy. Awareness is paramount. Drowning does not look like it does in the movies.

Testimonials

"The first thing to remember is that drowning doesn't just happen," says Alison Osinski, water safety expert and president of Aquatic Consulting Services. "Something always precipitates drowning."In an active drowning, a swimmer is at or below eye level at the surface of the water for about 10 to 20 seconds. The head is tilted back to get air. The eyes are either wide open or tightly shut. The mouth is often in an "O" shape from shock."You're not drowning if you can call for help," Osinski says.

After about 20 seconds, the swimmer will start to sink and will hold his breath underwater for anywhere from 30 to 90 seconds. If rescued during this time, the swimmer usually will be fine.

Open Water Experts Agree PULLiT Can Play A Part In Water Safety

OPEN WATER SWIMMING-Competitive Swimming

One of the things we discovered while developing the wristband, was the need for some type of alert device for competitive swimmers in  open water. We found through our research that many skilled and excellent swimmers drown during the swim portion of the race. As many as 13 swimmers have drown in just ONE triathlon race during the swim portion. There is a lack of visibility that is inherent to the swim portion because of the dark water, black wetsuits and the "washing machine" look of the water as hundreds of racers enter the water at the same time. Many times we have heard the words "he was there and then he wasn't". Sadly there just isn't any way to signal to others that help is needed. Until now! With our wristband, it is as easy as pulling the flag from it's chamber and holding it in the air. As those struggle with trying to stay above the water line our fluorescent orange flag there is a clear call for help. Triathletes have used our product and have discovered there is no drag created to affect those who swim for time. Our  PULLIT weighs no more than .7 oz and is made of neoprene for float-ability as well as durability.
"...every swimmer should be wearing one...John Muenzer, Open Water Source Vice President and World Record Holder

OPEN WATER

PULLIT also useful while swimming in the open surf. Many people do not realize they are in distress. As many as 350 people have been pulled from Huntington Beach, just this year (2012) on ONE  day. The ocean is a lovely way to spend the day but it is dangerous to those who become ill or get caught in an undertow or crashing waves or simply becoming unable to swim against a normal current.
"... it is a unique and effective way to create visibility..., I think the PullIt is a great signaling device, and that you should market it to divers and to surfers.  Mario Vittone, Mario Vittone.com

UNFAMILIAR SWIMMING VENUES

We also became aware that many swimmers who drown are in unfamiliar places. Places like swimming pools, resorts, swimming parks, and any other place that is unfamiliar increases the danger. When people are on a leisure day swimming, they are in a relaxed atmosphere and not expecting to have danger nearby. We do not watch our loved ones as closely as we should because they "know how to swim". This is precisely the problem, people who drown over 4 years old are those who most likely know how to swim!
